Nutstock, a family-style cook-out/rock-out, will take place on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2008 in the friendly confines of Finn McCool's backyard in Fairfax, Virginia.
There will be bands in the backyard all day, starting at 2:00 p.m. There will be some beer and there will be some grilling. There will also be a potluck. Bring whatever you'd like to eat and share. There will be some burgers and dogs and the grill will be available if Hepler wants to bring Cornish game hens or whatever.
There will be a sort of "Battle of the Bands"-style competition amongst the DC, Pennsylvania and North Carolina bands. As part of the fund-raising effort for our buddy Cy Rawls, who is battling a brain tumor, each act that performs will compete to see who can collect the most dollars in the hat during its set. There are some folks out there working up some good crowd-pleasing shtick, so it promises to be a good competition. All the money raised will go to Cy's fund and the winning act will be named "People's Choice Award Winner" or "Best in Show" or something like that. The acts themselves can contribute to their own pot, so this is a championship that you can actually buy.
